Our Volunteer Programs
All volunteers are required to be 18 years of age or older.

One of the primary ways we work towards our mission of giving kids art is by implementing our 8-10 week curriculum program at partner sites on a quarterly basis (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall). As a Give Kids Art Facilitator, you will be facilitating the Give Kids Art sessions at a designated partner location site (e.g., a Boys and Girls Club). Facilitator volunteers show up each week to lead a 1-hour process-based art session with 10-20 children, ranging from 5-13 years of age. We provide you with the curriculum, in-depth training and supplies for all the activities during the program. We are here to guide you the whole way.
Facilitators are all volunteers and unpaid.
Time Commitment:
1.5 Hours Weekly for the 8-10 Weeks (with the option to continue the following quarter)
We typically work with the same organizations year-round, but sometimes our partners prefer to vary their programming and take breaks for certain quarters.
Never on Holidays
In the event you can’t make a session due to work, illness, etc., we work with the partner organization to cover.
Requirements
Background Check ($30, unless covered by the organization you are partnered with)
Facilitator Orientation (3 hours)

Throughout the year, Give Kids Art participates in a variety of events to bring art activities and supplies to children in need. Events range from resource fairs where volunteers pass out Art Kits and lead simple activities, to fundraisers where volunteers greet guests and help with logistics.

One of the ways Give Kids Art has been serving our community since the beginning is by providing children in need with essential art supplies so that they can create fearlessly from anywhere.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Absolutely not! Give Kids Art is founded on the belief that everyone has an inner artist and that there is no right or wrong way to create. We look for kind and patient individuals who are passionate about using art as a tool to bring joy, healing, and confidence to kids.
-
Absolutely not! Give Kids Art is about creating nurturing spaces and providing tools with which kids can explore their feelings and creativity, not about “teaching” art.
Leading a room of children can be a bit intimidating for some, so we provide all of our volunteers with tips and tricks to create the most nurturing and positive relationships with the kids.
-
Absolutely! Most of our event opportunities are in California (for now!), but there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer from afar. We have coordinated Art Kit drops all across the country and have the ability to implement our curriculum program at any organization site that offers programming to kids.
Don’t hesitate to reach out no matter where you’re located! We’d love to work together to find ways to bring Give Kids Art to wherever you are!
